Products & Services

What are your investment goals? Through Citizens Investment Services, our investment professionals offer you a wide range of products and services designed to help you meet your investing goals. We’d love the opportunity to sit down with you to learn about your investment goals and objectives, approach toward risk, and then recommend a customized investment program tailored just for you.

Stocks & Bonds

Simply put, stocks represent ownership of companies and bonds represent loans made to companies. When you own stock, you share in the company’s profit, growth, and future, which may mean losses or gains. Unlike stockholders who own equity in a company, bondholders are creditors. Their prices rise or fall in relation to interest rates. The issuer is obligated to repay the principal and interest within a stated period of time. Corporations, states, municipalities, and the federal government may issue bonds.

Mutual Funds *

Mutual Funds are a diversified, professionally managed portfolio of securities, typically including stock and/or bond holdings in dozens or more different companies. Your investment is pooled with those of thousands of other investors. The result is broader diversification than you may achieve on your own. Diversification is important because your money is spread out over many investments and is not dependent on any single investment. Mutual funds may be a smart way to manage your money and diversify your risk. A diversified portfolio does not assure a profit or protect against a loss in a declining market.

Annuities *

Annuities may be an important addition to your retirement savings program because the earnings are tax-deferred for most people. Annuities combine the features of a mutual fund and an insurance contract and offer the benefits of tax-deferred** compounding and regular income upon retirement. We offer a variety of annuities with multiple features and benefits. A 10% IRS penalty may apply to withdrawals prior to age 59 ½. We can help you decide if an annuity is right for your portfolio.

Life Insurance

One of the most common questions people ask is “how much life insurance do I need?”. Not everyone needs the same amount. Family goals, needs, debt and income are often used to estimate life insurance needs. Life insurance serves two purposes:

  • Protection: provides for dependents in the event of the death of a primary wage earner paying for everyday needs, the mortgage or education of family members.
  • Cash Values: because of its tax-deferred accumulation properties, more people are using cash value life insurance while earning competitive rates. Loans and withdrawals may generate an income tax liability, reduce available cash value and reduce the death benefit or cause the policy to lapse.

Long-Term Care Insurance

The average cost of nursing home care can exceed $80,000 per year. After age 65, Americans have more than a 70% chance of needing some form of long term care services1. Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCI) allows you to remain independent and in the lifestyle you’ve grown accustomed to. Like any insurance product, LTCI allows the insured to pay an affordable premium to protect from an unaffordable catastrophic event. The purchase of long term care insurance varies based upon your age at the time of application, prior and current health conditions, benefits you select, and number of years you want a company to pay benefits. A variety of payment options are available.

Disability Insurance

The chance of a long-term disability may be greater than you think. Disability insurance is designed to protect your income and your standard of living. If you are disabled and unable to work, your expenses don’t stop… they may even increase if you need additional help at home. Disability insurance will provide monthly payments to help you meet your ongoing daily living expenses. If you are like some people and have trouble living within your income, how would you live without your income?

Unit Investment Trust

Consider Unit Investment Trusts (UITs) for diversification. UITs are simply a professionally selected, fixed portfolio of stocks, bonds, or a combination of both with a fixed maturity. UITs combine some of the advantages of individual securities with some of the advantages of funds. By combining these advantages, UITs enable an investor to get the best of both worlds in one convenient package.

Retirement Plans & IRAs

You may be aware of the many types of retirement products available today. As retirement specialists, we can work with you to choose the best retirement program to meet your needs and timeframe. At the heart of what makes retirement accounts and IRAs such great savings tools are the special federal tax laws governing the taxation of amounts earned within these accounts.

More people than ever before are now eligible to take advantage of the incredible tax advantages available through IRAs. There are a number of different types of IRAs, some being employer provided plans and others usually only being set up by the individual.
